WOODCOTE Stoke Row missed out on the chance to go second in the table following a 2-1 defeat to Marlow United.

Gareth Evans broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time when he fired a

free-kick past the goalkeeper, who appeared to be unsighted by the sun.

James Worsfold spurned a decent opportunity to extend the lead early in the second half as he headed at the keeper from five yards out.

Marlow rubbed salt in the wounds as they went straight down the other end and equalised through Jon Mason.

Still Woodcote looked the more likely to score again as Ryan Corbett screwed a shot wide following some neat build-up play.

But it was Marlow who grabbed the winner with 20 minutes remaining when Joe Da Silva fired home from 25 yards.

Woodcote pushed hard for an equaliser but Andy Bullett, Jim Hancock and Ryan Corbett could not beat the keeper.

Cookham Dean beat Mortimer 4-0 thanks to a goal in either half from Paul Sharpe and strikes from Richard Webb and Steven Eaton.

Tom Candish’s 15th-minute effort saw Rotherfield United past Frilsham & Yattendon while Bracknell Rovers beat Sandhurst Devels 3-0.

Richard Brock and Sean Graham netted in the opening quarter of an hour for Rovers and Joshua Stefanini got the third late on.

Premier Division

ASHLEY Scott netted a hat-trick as Hurst ran out 5-2 winners against AFC Corinthians.

Shaun Bannon and Benjamin Haines also found the net for Hurst while Aaron Nelson and Stefan Davis replied for Corinthians.

REME Arbofield beat Cookham Dean Reserves 2-1 thanks to goals from Robert Jackson and Danny Pilcher.

Division One

LEADERS Sonning maintained their unbeaten record with a comfortable 7-0 victory over Woodley Town A.

Sean Moore grabbed a couple of goals and Ryan Tye, Craig Eales, Asa Povey, Andrew White and Charlie Sumner also netted.

Elsewhere, Sam Guze and Joe Wigmore scored for Woodley Hammers in their 2-2 draw with Berkshire United while Pinewood beat Winnersh Rangers 2-1.

David Cole and Darryn Alexander got the goals for Pinewood and Tom Slade replied for Rangers, who had Chris Waring sent off for two yellow cards.

Division Two

PHILIPP Pavlov led the scoring with a hat-trick as leaders Eldon Celtic eased past Wokingham & Emmbrook A 8-0.

Omar Carrington and Matthew Williamson bagged braces and Raheem Francis also got on the scoresheet.

Goring United Reserves beat Theale Reserves 6-0 with Jack Murray, Jamie Taylor and Brandon Burton all scoring twice.

Cup action

TAPLOW United booked their place in the semi-finals of the Maidenhead Norfolkian Cup after coming from behind to beat Woodley Town Reserves 2-1.

Tom Cooper headed the hosts into the lead after 15 minutes before Joe Jarra equalised for Taplow seven minutes later.

Jarra turned provider for Taplow’s winner in the 33rd minute as he squared for Pete Shay to score at the far post.

Craig Bowman and Jake Tucker scored in either half to give Reading YMCA Rapids a 2-0 victory over Marlow United Reserves in the Berkshire Trophy Centre Intermediate Cup.

Woodcote Stoke Row Reserves bowed out of the BTC Intermediate Cup after losing 4-2 to Wargrave.

In a frantic start, Woodcote took the lead after five minutes through Carl Smith, only for Wargrave to reply with a quickfire double.

Richard Ashton made it 2-2 on 12 minutes with a superb curling effort, but Wargrave edge back in front before half time and wrapped up the win late on.

Stuart Moss got three of the goals for Wargrave and George Stagg also netted.
