Reading boss Ruben Selles has had his say on the relegation battle as it hots up, saying it is 'up to us.'

The Royals sit six points clear of the relegation zone, with a far superior goal difference, with just four matches remaining in the campaign.

Holding in-form Lincoln City to a 1-1 draw on Saturday, Reading travel to Bristol Rovers on Tuesday looking to pull yet further away from danger.

Commenting on his side's mindset heading into the final three weeks of the campaign, the Spaniard has said that they have earned their buffer to the drop zone for their upturn in form over the last six months.

"All we know is that if we perform the way we need to perform, we will be in a good position to win football matches," Selles said. "We don’t want to speculate what happens here or with that, we just want to be focussed to do our job.

"If somebody had told us six months ago that with four games to go, we would be here in this position today, six points above the relegation zone and playing the way we are, having the extra points deducted but still having the trust that we can do things, we would not have believed it because we were not in that position.

"We earned the right to be in the position we are in now, and it depends on us and how we perform and just focus on the football. That is our mindset. We are going to recover and prepare to go there, put in a good performance and try to get the three points."

Bristol Rovers, Barnsley, Burton Albion and Blackpool are the remaining fixtures, with the Royals not back in front of home supporters until the final day of the season on Saturday, April 28.
