MORE than 40 teams took part in the Reading and West Berkshire Under 7s and U8s Trophy Event, culminating in a successful finals day on Sunday, writes Richard Ashton.

The teams had initially played matches the previous week to stream them into divisions, and in the U7s event AFC Newbury Colts won the Champions Division against CSA 07 Whites.

In the Premier Division, AFC Newbury Red defeated Highmoor Athletic, while Thatcham Town Harriers Lightning overcame Highmore United to snare the Championship Division.

CSA 07 Reds took the glory in the Conference Division with victory against Thatcham Tornadoes Amber.

In the U8s, Highmoor Athletic downed CSA 07 Hawks in the Champions Division, while the Premier Division was won by CSA 07 Falcons against Highmoor United.

Thatcham Tornadoes Amber beat AFC Newbury Boys White in the Championship Division, with the Conference equivalent won by CSA 07 Reds against FC Cougars.

  • TILEHURST Panthers U14 Girls secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Carshalton in the Surrey League.

Two goals from Leila Lister and a cracking 20-yard drive from Lillie Clibbon-Grant ensured the national champions maintained their 100 per cent record in this new league.

Meanwhile, the U14 Reds defeated Laurel Park 4-3.

At U12s, TP Stripes hammered Thatcham Town 8-0, while the Reds crushed Westwood Wanderers 6-0.

The U13 Reds beat Sandhurst Town 1-0, the Colts drew 1-1 with Boyne Hill but the Stripes lost 4-0 at Windsor Youth.

Tilehurst Panthers U15 defeated Thatcham & Newbury Town 12-2, the U18s drew 0-0 at Wantage Town and the Ladies leam lost 4-2 to Oxford City.
