HIGHMOOR Ibis maintained their promising start to the new Premier Division campaign with a 2-0 win away to Bracknell on Tuesday – and manager Marcus Richardson believes they are going to get even better, writes Dave Wright.

“I thought this was a great all-round performance,” he said. “We defended well, attacked well and controlled the game.

“Yes, we have started the season really well, but I think we will get stronger and stronger. We are a good team who are still progressing.”

Bracknell, with a big budget, have brought in several new players and won 4-1 at Oxford City Nomads on Saturday.

But Highmoor never allowed them to settle and they could easily have won by a wider margin.

“I thought the boys were a different class to be honest,” added Richardson.

Anthony White was a constant threat and had already gone close before scoring the first of his two goals in the 37th minute when he raced onto a through ball from Lamin Sankoh.

Although it needed a combination of keeper Nathan Silver and Jamie Porter to deny Bracknell an equaliser, Highmoor continued to have the upper hand and White put the game to bed just after the hour mark.

His header was palmed away by keeper Chris Grace, but White drove the rebound into the empty net.

He later limped off with a hamstring injury, but hopes to be fit for the FA Cup preliminary round tie against Brimscombe & Thrupp at the Rivermoor Stadium on Saturday.

Highmoor had Devonn Reid sent off for two bookable offences just before the end of the game.
