HURST’S bid to seal back-to-back Division 2b victories was halted by the weather as they drew at home to Slough 2nds, writes Richard Ashton.

The home side made a poor start as Lewis Smith and newly-signed Rukshan Soza both fell to make it 22-2, but Usman Ijaz and captain Ollie Lovegrove (31) steadied the ship until the latter was dismissed by Naveed Akhtar.

Hurst’s middle order failed to fire and they were in deep trouble at 96-6, but Ijaz (79no) and Kyle Bradley took them to 147-6 before the game was abandoned after 42 overs.

Hurst travel to Royal Ascot this coming Saturday (1pm).

Wargrave’s trip to Henley 2nds was also called off due to rain with the home side on 201-6 after 43.3 overs. Nick Goodson made 83 for the hosts.

Wargrave visit Slough 2nds this Saturday (1pm).

Joe Waldron made 45 before Kidmore End’s Division 2a game at home to Maidenhead & Bray was abandoned with the hosts on 129-5 after 28 overs.

Kidmore End host North Maidenhead on Saturday (1pm).

Sonning dodged the rain to record a tense three-wicket win at Aldershot in Division 3b.

Ghulam Abbas (5-40) and Zahid Mohammed (4-21) combined to skittle the hosts for just 95, and although there were a couple of wobbles in the Sonning chase, they made it across the winning line after 35 overs.

Sonning are at home to Finchampstead 3rds on Saturday (1pm).

A superb spell from Caleb Maycock (5-26) saw Purley-on-Thames well on top against Eversley 2nds, who were 104-9 when the game was abandoned.

Purley-on-Thames host Aldershot this Saturday (1pm).

Andrew Wigmore hammered a dominant unbeaten 78 from just 71 balls before Theale & Tilehurst’s Division 4b game against Thatcham Town 2nds was abandoned with the hosts on 133-3 after 34 overs.

Theale & Tilehurst travel to Wokingham 2nds this coming Saturday (1pm).

Sonning 2nds crushed Aldershot 2nds by 139 runs in Division 5b.

Captain Nigel Thorpe (47) and Mohammed Atif (43) led the charge as Sonning rattled up 227, and Kevan Smith (5-40) and Jameel Ahamed (3-24) did the damage with the ball as the visitors collapsed to just 88 all out.

In Division 6b, Royal Ascot 3rds thumped Hurst 2nds by 109 runs.

Gary Clarke (65) and Jon Prowse (53) steered the home side to a competitive 180-4, before Rob Major (4-5) and Mike Wyatt (4-21) dismantled the Hurst batting line-up as they were shot out for just 71.

Wargrave 2nds annihilated Theale & Tilehurst 2nds by eight wickets.

Razwan Hanif (3-4) and Scott Morton (3-20) were the principle destroyers as T&T were shot out for just 77, and Sam Bowers blasted 48 as Wargrave raced to victory in just 10 overs.

Tom Purser took 3-21 for Purley-on-Thames 2nds, but their game against Cove 3rds ended after 35 overs with the visitors 113-5.

Eversley 3rds’ game with Kidmore End 2nds was abandoned while interestingly poised in Division 7a.
