EVERSLEY & California blew a two-goal lead against Bedford & Feltham and ended their Combined Counties Division One campaign with a 3-2 defeat on Monday.

It meant Boars finished in fifth position after a run of 10 points from their last 10 games derailed their title bid, while Bedford finished top.

Eversley got off to a dream start when Dan Griffiths volleyed them ahead in the sixth minute.

The hosts doubled their lead in the second half when Lewis Robson scored a cracker from 20 yards.

But they switched off as the game wore on and Bedford hit back with three goals in the last 15 minutes to secure an unlikely victory and the title ahead of second-placed CB Hounslow on goal difference.

Boars had picked up their first point in three matches after a 3-3 draw at struggling Farleigh Rovers on Saturday.

Boars had the bare 11 players on the day and were forced to play goalkeeper Adrian Giles up front.

It was Giles who struck early to put Eversley in front.

But Farleigh hit back and went 2-1 up and Boars had to dig deep when a player limped off with an injury, forcing them to play the rest of the match with 10 men.

However, Will Neville equalised for the visitors, Farleigh scored again for a 3-2 lead only for Neville to grab his second of the game late on to secure a hard-fought point.

Meanwhile, Sandhurst Town were thrashed 7-0 at Bedford & Feltham in the same division on Saturday.

They hope to end their season on a better note when they host Farleigh Rovers at Bottom Meadow in their final league fixture this Saturday (3pm).
