READING Irish remain favourites to win the Senior Division despite suffering mixed results as the fixture backlog kicks in, writes Richard Ashton.

They were beaten 3-1 at home to Emmer Green last Thursday, but bounced back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory at Whitley Tavern on Sunday.

That result leaves them four points behind leaders Dee Road Rangers, but with two games in hand.

Ghana Stars will finish the season bottom of the pile after forfeiting both of their games at Richfield Rovers and Southcote, with Rovers completing a productive week with a 2-1 home success against Emmer Green.

Second-bottom Eastern Rangers stunned Reading YMCA 4-1, while Barton Rovers demolished Kidmore End 6-0.

Reading YMCA put that defeat behind them by crushing Whitley Tavern 4-1 on Tuesday.

The top two in the Premier Division remain locked together on points after The Tilehurst Club won 3-1 at D.C. Steamers and Burghfield edged out Richfield Rovers Reserves 3-2, but second-placed Burghfield have a game in hand on their title rivals.

Woodley United got the better of Roebuck in a hard-fought 2-1 win.

Woodley Wanderers sealed the Division One title in emphatic fashion with a crushing 8-1 destruction of The Pub.

The likely runners-up bounced back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory at 116 Exiles, who were also beaten 1-0 at The Pub last Thursday.

A trio of victories has lifted AFC Pangbourne six points clear at the top of the Division Two table.

They thrashed Warwick Arms 6-2 last Thursday before cruising past Athletico Forest 4-1 on Sunday.

And they defeated nearest rivals Le Galaxy by the same scoreline to put one hand on the title in securing a 14th win from 16 games.

Loxwood got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at WS Hobnob on Tuesday night, Jason Ivil hitting a double and Steve Barter also on target.

They were involved in an eight-goal thriller against Pangbourne and Basildon Barbarians with the spoils being shared in a 4-4 draw on Sunday.

After falling behind early on, goals from Luke Giles and Jonny Austin put Loxwood in front but they conceded just before the break as the teams went into the interval level.

The Barbars went 3-2 up on the hour before a dramatic finish saw Jason Ivil (penalty) and Jamie Turner give Loxwood a 4-3 lead, only for the visitors to equalise two minutes from time.

Last Thursday night a goal by Turner failed to save Loxwood as they went down 2-1 at Athletico Forest.

Emmbrook Inn experienced mixed fortunes with a 3-3 draw at Athletico Forest, a 7-4 home defeat to Imaan and a 2-1 win at Arborfield.

Imaan made it back-to-back wins with a 3-1 triumph at home to basement boys Warwick Arms on Tuesday, with the beaten side also losing 2-1 to AFC Burghfield Reserves on Sunday.

Wokingham & Emmbrook picked up one point from two games after losing 3-0 at home to Arborfield and drawing 1-1 at Pangbourne & Basildon Barbarians.

In Division Three East, Mapledurham were gifted six points after both Just Play United and Forest FC forfeited their games against them last week.

Spencers Wood still have a chance of snatching the runners-up spot, though, after squeezing past Berkshire Rovers 2-1.

Forest FC eased past Loddon Valley Rangers Reserves 4-0 on Sunday.

Falcon secured second spot in Division Three West after Southbank Reserves conceded their game on Tuesday night. The runners-up have previously thumped Woolhampton CFC 6-1 on Sunday.

Southbank Reserves and Park Villa, and AFC Basildon and Tilehurst Titans both played out 1-1 draws, while Theale won 3-2 at Whitley Athletic.

Last Thursday, AFC Basildon smashed Theale 5-0, Tilehurst Titans triumphed 3-0 at Park Villa and Reading Town won by the same scoreline at home to Whitley Athletic.

Coley Park edged past Southbank Reserves 1-0, but then lost 3-0 at Woolhampton CFC on Tuesday, while Theale downed Park Villa 2-1.

Kings United closed in on the Division Four East title with a 1-0 victory at Fox & Hounds, leaving them two points behind table-topping Henley YMCA United but with two games in hand.

Mortimer Reserves wrapped up the Division Four West title with a 4-0 rout of Kennet Valley on Sunday.

The beaten side also lost 3-1 at home to Burghfield Reserves on Tuesday, having drawn 2-2 with The Bugle last Thursday.
