AN ARTIST is to make another bid for TV’s ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’.

Marinela Caldarus, 32, of Langley, runs the Art Classes Group art studio in the Observatory Shopping Centre, Slough. Mrs Caldarus has twice appeared on Sky Art’s Landscape Artist of the Year, but was eliminated before the semi-finals on both occasions.

She said: “It was an amazing experience being interviewed by the judges. They were very impressed with my work. I’m planning to apply again for next year. One of the highlights was when I had to do a landscape painting on glass, which is usually very challenging outdoors, as the paint dries very slowly.”

The TV series is currently airing on Sky Arts every Wednesday.

Mrs Caldarus has previously been shortlisted for Artist of the Year in the “Artists and Illustrators” Magazine. Mrs Caldarus, who is originally from Romania, said: “I’ve been an artist my whole life, ever since I was six. I got a master’s in interior design in Romania, and was left with the choice of either architecture or art. I chose art, as there is so much more freedom.”

The Art Classes Group runs regular art lessons for children and adults, full details of which can be found at: http://www.artclassesgroup.com/
