PARENTS with children at a school are being invited to make a voluntary contribution to its finances.

The request in this week’s Eton Wick First School newsletter asks parents to contribute £15 a term, or more if they choose.

But the newsletter makes clear that the donation would be voluntary, saying: “It is acknowledged that many families do experience financial difficulties - please be assured that parents and carers are under no obligation to contribute.”

Those who do are invited to make their payment through an online payment system.

The school in Sheepcote Road is undergoing a period of change at the moment, having applied for academy status. However it is not clear what the extra funds would go towards and The Observer is awaiting a response from the school.

The consultation with parents over the change period ends today (Friday), the day that the Friends of Eton Wick School hold their annual meeting. They are looking for new volunteers.

The school also has a new governors’ chairman - David Stacey.
