The Pakistani Welfare Association is organising two days of celebration this weekend.

They will be commemorating the 70th anniversary of Pakistan becoming a sovereign state.

A musical mayheai tomorrow (Saturday) organised by PWA president Mohammed Shabbir at the Youth Community Centre in Darvills Road will attract all ages. It will include an award ceremony for people who have contributed to the community.

Mr Shabbir said: "It has taken a few months to get it all organised. In fact we are still working on it."

He said one gentleman expected at the event was there 70 years ago when Pakistan was created.

It will all happen between 2.30pm and 6.30pm.

On Sunday there will be Funday at PWA, organised by vice-president Shakida Akbar.

There will be a clown show, a bouncy castle and face painting with henna - known as Mehndi.

You can even have the Pakistani flag painted on your face.

There will also be lots of stalls, including tempting designer clothes and bags and a fancy dress competition.

Mini cars for the children to race in are also expected to be popular.

It runs from noon till 4.30pm.
