A QUICK-THINKING truck driver used a bottle of fizzy juice to extinguish the flames after his brakes caught fire near Newbury this morning.
The driver was travelling along the A339 at around 9.30am when another motorist flagged him down because smoke was billowing from his brakes.
Jumping out of the articulated lorry the driver saw flames and grabbed his bottle of Coca Cola and used its contents to extinguish the blaze.
He sounded the alarm and firefighters from Newbury used hose reels to make sure the fire was doused before recovery vehicles arrived to retrieve the lorry.
