FOR one teenager the Reading Retail Awards could be the catalyst for a career reaching great heights.
Lewis Floyd was only 16 when he started working at Mya Lacarte as an apprentice chef.
And on Saturday night and one year later he won Trainee of the Year award, sponsored by Reading College.
Paul Newman, acting principal at Reading College, said as he presented the award: “At the age of 16, he has shown incredible work ethic and dedication to what is a very exhausting trade.”
Lewis has now left Mya Lacarte to work elsewhere but on Saturday night he said his sights were even bigger.
“I want to go all the way to the top,” he said.
