ON THE eve of London Fashion Week, a Berkshire model proclaimed ‘I’d rather go naked than wear fur’.

Veterinary medicine student and model Hope Carveth, from Greenham Common, braved the cold with two other models on Thursday outside Somerset House.

Covered only by a banner proclaiming, ‘We’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur’, the 21-year-old model reminded passers-by that cruelty to animals is still a part of the fashion industry.

She said: “Fashion should be fun, not fatal. No jacket, scarf or piece of trim is worth the cruel death of a thinking, feeling animal.”

In November 2014, singer Paloma Faith narrated PETA’s documentary ‘Cruelty Assured’, which showed animals, including rabbits, foxes and minks on fur farms, confined to cramped cages before they are killed for coats, collars and cuffs.

Many designers, including Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Simone Rocha, and Topshop are completely fur-free.

Ninety-five per cent of the British public refuse to wear real fur.
