BURGLARS used a crowbar to force their way into a home.

At around 10pm on December 5 three men were seen sprinting from the Leicester cul-de-sac near Opladen Way, Crownwood.

When a neighbour went to investigate, they found the front door of an unoccupied home had been forced open with what police believe was a crowbar or similar tool.

The intruders appear to have made a hasty search of the property before fleeing empty handed.

When the morning came another resident of the same road discovered an attempt had been made to lever open the front door and ground floor window of their house .

Investigating officer PC Neil Lofthouse said “ We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information to call our 24-hour enquiry centre on 101, quoting reference 43170362194.

"If you don’t want to speak directly to police you can contact “Crimestoppers” anonymously and free of charge on 0800 555 111. It is an independent charity, no personal details will be asked for, calls are not recorded or traced and you would not have to go to court."
