The Bracknell Islamic Cultural Society will be holding an outdoor EID festival this weekend to mark the end of Ramadan.

Muslims all around the world have been fasting since the end of May and will hold celebrations this weekend to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

Just last week a mosque in London was attacked, and since that event, one Bracknell  Muslim has decided to attempt to integrate Muslims in the community.

Bacit Kuko, the chairman of the Bracknell Islamic Cultural Society, is behind this weekend's event, and spoke of his ambitions for the event.

"What we're doing is our prayer to mark the end of Ramadan, called the EID festival, so it'll start at 9:32, that'll be the prayer at half nine, that will take roughly half an hour to finish.

"After that we have more socialisation with other communities, the councillors and the mayor will be there as well. It's not just going to be us.

"I want to make it more open, this is the first time we've done it outside usually we do it indoors, but the numbers we're expecting there's more room, and more room for activities.

"First of all, the Muslim community in Bracknell does stuff, we do things in the community but we do it in a subtle way, quietly but with the engaging with the councillors we don't do it open,

"I thought it was time we make ourselves more visible to the community, get involved and give to the community of Bracknell.

"If you look at the recent event that's just happened, we want to raise awareness that we as Muslims are part of the community, we're not excluded, we're part of the community and everybody should know about this.

"For us its important, we just want to tell everyone, we are Muslims in Bracknell, we care about our community and we care about Bracknell, we want to physically engage, we're part of Bracknell.

"We're hoping for 400-600 people, last time we held it indoors it was 400 people so we expect roughly 400-600 this year."

The event will take place behind the Bracknell Leisure Centre on Bagshot road. More information about the festival is to be announced in due course from the Bracknell Islamic Cultural Society.
