A thief who stole £170 of fragrances from a John Lewis branch has been fined by magistrates.
Sunny Bassi, 39, of Caversham Road, Reading, appeared before Reading Magistrates' Court on March 7.
They indicated a guilty plea to a single charge of theft from a shop.
This was in connection with an incident on January 21 this year.
Bassi entered the John Lewis branch in the Oracle Centre in Reading and made off with around £170 of fragrances.
Magistrates imposed a community order. Under the terms of this, Bassi has been banned from the John Lewis store in Reading for a year.
In addition, they must pay £170 in compensation.
The defendant also pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to surrender to the authorities when required to in March - but no separate penalty was imposed for this offence.
