Many locals were upset when the news broke out of Caversham Lakes closure.

Caversham Lakes was set up in 2020 and has provided years of entertainment locally with its inflatable aqua park, swimming, paddleboarding, and other water-based activities.

However, it came to light that Caversham Lakes operator Cosmonaut Leisure opened the centre and put-up structures without the correct planning permission.

The closure of Caversham Lakes left many distraught as outdoor swimming contributed to a key part of the community’s mental and physical wellbeing.

“Many people in the local area think the Lakes is a fantastic new addition,” said resident Stru Bertson.

“A place where local schools and scout groups go and have an amazing time, and a place that has enabled locals to get outdoors, swim, SUP, boost mental health, and socialise in what's been a horrible few years.”

Despite outdoor swimming being unavailable at Caversham Lakes, residents have been reminded that Dinton Pastures will soon offer the public a very similar package.

Wokingham Borough Council recently posted the following statement on social media:

“Did you know Dinton Pastures Country Park offers open water SWIMMING? What a PERFECT, serene location for a weekend morning dip!

“Changing rooms and toilets available for swimmers, located next to the swimmer area in the activity centre.”

Open water swimming at Dinton Pastures will start from May 11, 9 am to 10 am for swimmers aged 14 and up, and children under 16 are required to be accompanied by an adult.
