A CHEF in Sunningdale has been awarded the culinary world's highest honour.

Adam Smith of Restaurant Coworth Park has been recognised with a Michelin-star.

Since he was described as "one to watch" by Michel Roux senior, Mr Smith has been raking in the plaudits, winning Observer Food Monthly's young chef of the year in 2012 and becoming Craft Guild of Chefs restaurant chef of the year three years later.

He said: “I am thrilled for myself and the team who work tirelessly front and back of house to make sure we meet and exceed the expectations of our guests in Restaurant Coworth Park.

"For me, it is the realisation of a lifelong ambition to achieve a Michelin-star and even more special that it has happened here at Coworth Park.

"Having been at Coworth for little over a year this amazing award is testament to the hard work that our team put in, and I am very proud that we have done so in a relatively short space of time.”

In his cooking at Coworth Park Mr Smith delivers modern takes on classic British flavour combinations.

A week prior to winning the Michelin-star he picked up three AA Rosettes at the AA Awards.

Coworth general manager Zoe Jenkins added: “We are delighted that Adam has received this prestigious culinary recognition for Restaurant Coworth Park from the Michelin Guide 2018. "To be recognised amongst the most talented chefs and restaurants in the UK is a great honour, and this award recognises his outstanding commitment and the hard work that he and his team have dedicated to Restaurant Coworth Park.

"I am delighted Adam has fulfilled his dream of achieving a Michelin Star."
