FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD Andrew Boniface from Woosehill was racing to become an expert driver back in 1989 as he joined an Under-17s car club which used closed off-road circuits to familiarise youngsters with the controls of a motor vehicle in complete safety.

The “Challenge to Youth” scheme also covered such things as skid control, avoidance braking and double de-clutching.

Local resident Bill Tyler told the News: “My brothers and I were brought up on this field we messed around but we were happy,I want the field to be left alone for our kids,this green is part of Harmans Water.”
