OXFORD United claimed one of their best results of the season - but head coach Karl Robinson felt it was scarcely deserved.

Curtis Nelson's back-post finish won a tight, poor-quality game against Coventry City, who started the day only one point below the play-off places.

They needed Simon Eastwood to make two big saves to preserve the clean sheet, in what was only their second away win of the season.

Victory moved the U's up to a season-high 13th place in Sky Bet League One, opening up a four-point cushion over the relegation zone.

While Robinson took heart from some elements of the display, the head coach thought they were fortunate to take all three points.

He said: "I thought we were rubbish. Maybe rubbish is harsh, but we weren’t at our best.

"I thought we defended very well. We got away with some things in the first half and we changed a few things.

"Easty pulled out an unbelievable save in the second half and was probably the man of the match, along with the fans.

"The players to a man stood up and were counted.

"I’m really happy for the players.

"I don’t think it’s something we deserved, but how many times have I moaned this year about not getting what we deserved in the other way?

"It was a scrappy goal, a scrappy performance, but a performance of men."
