SKIPPER Matt Foord is hoping this weekend’s matches against the NHL Division One South’s bottom two sides will see Bracknell Bees get back on the winning trail, writes Dave Wright.

They slumped to a 5-3 home defeat at the hands of Streatham on Sunday and have now lost 16 of their last 18 matches.

Now Bees are targeting the home match against Invicta Dynamos on Saturday evening and the trip to pointless Cardiff Fire the following day as a good opportunity to bag six points.

“Our recent run hasn’t been great,” admitted Foord.

“We know we need to get back to winning ways and start playing with confidence.

“When you are losing games and making silly mistakes, you end up playing without confidence, making it hard to get back into that winning column. We need to get back our confidence and play risk-free hockey.”

Foord said his squad were left very disappointed following their defeat by Streatham.

“Last week we had put in a good performance against MK Thunder. We worked really hard and got the right result.

“But tonight (Sunday) we seemed to go back a bit. We made silly mistakes and we didn’t put away our chances.

“I thought we dominated much of the play and we certainly had a lot more chances than they did.

“We had control of the puck, but they (Streatham) were looking for our mistakes, jumped on them and caught us on the counter attack.”

Bees managed to cancel out the visitors’ opening three goals, however, they were unable to reply to the visitors’ fourth and fifth.

“I think it’s key for us to make a good start, “ commented Foord. “When we do that, we tend to play a better game.”

The Bees skipper concluded: “We need to go in guns blazing, firing on all cylinders and string a couple of wins together.”
