IT WAS a hectic weekend for Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH) Athletics Club.

The distance runners were in action at the National Cross Country Championships in Nottingham while the track and field athletes contested the Great Britain Championships in Glasgow plus the English Under 15-20s Indoor Championships in Sheffield.

Jessie Knight confirmed her dominance of the previous weekend in the Muller Grand Prix by taking the 400m title in the GB Championships in comfort with a time of 52.76 seconds.

Toby Makoyawa, 17, competed against the senior men but demonstrated real potential to take the bronze medal in the 60m with 6.77secs. Morgan Lake went one better to take the silver medal in the high jump on 1.84m.

Blake Moore finished in sixth place in the 1,500m final with a time of three minutes and 55.9 seconds (3:55.9). Lukesha Morris also made the final of the 60m and finished eighth in 7.76secs.

Other WSEH competitors included Nathan Gilbert who was third in the semi final to the 60m sprint in 6.87secs and Harriet Jones – eighth in the heat on 7.95secs.

Megan Harris took third spot in the 60m hurdles heat on 8.60secs while Josh Armstrong was fourth with 8.38secs.

WSEH produced one winner in the U15-20s Championships in Sheffield as Alfie Spear took the 1,500m title in 4:09.35.

Jodie Smith claimed the silver award in the U20s long jump with a leap of 6.04m.

Monty Gurney just missed out on a medal in the U15s boys’ 300m when fourth in 39.48secs. Others who fell just short of the medals tally include Laurie Sutcliffe who was seventh in the U17s 60m sprint in 7.31secs.

Kaliska Nowers was fifth in the U17s pole vault with 3.55m, Freya Witheat fourth in the U17s shot on 13.04m and Erin Rees fifth in the U15s pole vault with 2.65m.
