ASCOT United bounced back from their midweek 3-2 home defeat by Redhill to win 2-1 at Abbey Rangers on Saturday.

They have moved seven points clear in the Premier Division title race, although have played at least two games more than their nearest challengers, Spelthorne Sports and Knaphill.

With the main ground at Addlestone Moor being waterlogged, the game was switched to the adjoining 3G pitch.

The hosts were first to settle and would have held a decent first-half lead had it not been for the brilliance of Sam Gray in the Ascot goal. He was only beaten once and that was by Kery Kedze after 13 minutes.

In the second half, there was a marked improvement in United's play with Ben Hodges pulling many of the strings for Jamie Tompkins’ side. He had already gone close before equalising on the hour mark.

Hodges then set up a chance for Harry Laflin, only for keeper Brannon Daley to smother the ball.

But the Yellamen's pressure paid off with Laflin netting a late winner following Jonny Denton's corner.

A 3-2 scoreline suggested a close game last Tuesday, but it was not the case as Redhill were the better side and it wasn't until stoppage time when United scored both their goals through Laflin and George Lock.

This coming Saturday, Ascot are home to a Southall side which sits fourth in the table, 12 points behind United with three games in hand.

Sandhurst Town hammered Kensington & Ealing Borough 5-2 on Tuesday of last week in the Esoteric Recordings Division One Cup to secure semi-final tie at Walton & Hersham.

Paddy Gardner bagged a brace with Haydon Richardson (penalty), Sam Green and Will Shaw, who has joined from Binfield on a dual registration, also on target.

Without a game at the weekend, the Fizzers were scheduled to visit AFC Hayes last night (Tuesday) and they are away to Bagshot at Krooner Park in Camberley this Saturday.

Eversley & California's home fixture with Cove was another victim of the bad weather.

Last night (Tuesday) the Boars had a Division One fixture away to British Airways and on Saturday they are at the same Hatton Road venue, this time to face Bedfont & Feltham.
