SANDHURST Town are through to the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy final after beating neighbours Wokingham & Emmbrook 4-2 in a thriller on Saturday.

The Fizzers stormed into a three-goal lead, but the Sumas pulled two back despite losing Nick Bateman to a red card in the first half, only for Grant Kemp to scramble in a fourth goal to seal the victory.

In the final, they will meet Hellenic League Division Two West side Wantage Town Development, who defeated Division One East club Penn & Tylers Green 2-0 in the other semi. The date and venue for the final have yet to be confirmed.

It took Combined Counties League Division One outfit Sandhurst just six minutes to take the lead at Lowther Road, with Brad Brown crashing a free-kick into the top-left corner from the edge of the area.

Brown was involved in the second goal on 20 minutes, seizing onto a risky back pass in the Sumas' defence to leave George Clark with a simple tap-in.

And five minutes later, Brown was celebrating again as he scored the third following good work by Carl Prestidge and Jamie Mitchell.

The hosts were reeling and by this time they were also down to 10 men, with Bateman having been dismissed after he had retaliated to a challenge. But, to their credit, Wokingham bravely fought their way back into contention.

Carter had an effort cleared off the line before a Harris free-kick led to Joe Cummuskey heading home in the 62nd minute and three minutes later, Jake White burst clear to score, reducing his side's deficit to just one goal.

Sumas were in the ascendancy, but their hopes of getting back on level terms were shattered after 70 minutes when, following a disputed free-kick, a goalmouth scramble ended with Kemp forcing the ball across the line.

Wokingham, who are third in the table, are scheduled to return to league action at Wallingford Town tomorrow night (Tuesday) and they are home to seventh-placed Didcot Town Development this coming Saturday (3pm) before visiting the runaway leaders Risborough Rangers next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Fourth-placed Sandhurst visit mid-table AFC Hayes in a league fixture this Saturday.

Last Tuesday, the Fizzers defeated Walton & Hersham 3-2 with goals from Danny Turner (2) and Mitchell. They had Sam Green sent off, while the visitors had two players dismissed.
