Here are our player ratings from Reading's 1-1 draw with Cardiff City on Friday evening.

Rafael - 5

Produced a stunning stop to deny Will Vaulks putting the hosts and generally coped well with a lot of aerial bombardment. His distribution was poor however and he could've been caught out after completely missing an attempted punch in the second half. Not his best game but not a terrible showing.

Chris Gunter - 7

Reading's 'Mr Consistent' of recent weeks Chris Gunter had another solid perfomance in the right back position. His positioning was impressive, he got forward well when he could - although with Cardiff pegging Reading back for long spells, Gunter's performance was more impressive from a defensive viewpoint than an offensive one.

Michael Morrison - 7

Just the performance you expect to see from Morrison. Strong as ever in the air and alongside Liam Moore and Tom Mcintyre coped well as Cardiff put the Royals back line under serious pressure.

Liam Moore - 7

The skipper put in another decent showing, much like Michael Morrison. His communication and organization of the defence was a particular stand out, being very vocal and making sure the defensive unit worked well as a group.

Tom Mcintyre - 5

A bit of a mixed bag from the youngster. At times, he looked capable of dealing with everything Cardiff threw in his direction but at other times he looked a little nervy in possession. 5/10, straight down the middle.

Jordan Obita - 5

On the plus side, Obita got forward with some impressive surges into the Cardiff half and got into some reaally good positions to deliver. On the down side, a lot of those deliveries were wasteful. Defensively a decent showing.

Pele - 8

An imperious, commanding showing in the middle of the park from Pele. He was tenacious and worked incredibly hard to battle for every 50/50, the majority of which he came out on top from. Great performance.

Ovie Ejaria - 7

It's clear that Ejaria's influence is much more noticeable when playing in a more central position and he looked back to his best after a couple of quiet games recently, frequently guiding past opposing players with ease. Unfortunately, the end product wasn't quite there and Ejaria was guilty on occasion of making the wrong call after doing the hard work.

John Swift - 7

Showed composure to pick out Meite early on for his goal, dinking a perfectly weighted ball onto his head to add another assist to his tally this year. He did look bright when on the ball for the remainder of the game, but the assist was his best moment.

Yakou Meite – 7

A physically dominating performance from Meite, capped off with another goal against the Bluebirds. Was fighting a losing battle at times as he tried to pressure the back line but with a goal to his name, it’s fair to say he did get a reward for his efforts.

Sam Baldock – 5

Lots of energy as always from Baldock but that was about it. Didn’t give Smithies much to worry about between the sticks but you can’t fault the work rate. One of those games.

SUBS

Charlie Adam – 7

Added a cool head to the Royals midfield as they looked to secure a point and played some really tidy passes on the break.

George Puscas – 5

Looked bright during his brief spell but unfortunately, much like Baldock, he didn’t really have much of note to prove for his efforts.

Omar Richards – 5

Came on late for Obita who was on a yellow and slotted in well as Reading secured the draw.
