WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook drew 1-1 with fellow top-five side Holyport in their Division One East match at Summerleaze on Saturday.

The Sumas started well, but were forced to make an early change when Jake White, their top scorer with 20 goals, had to leave the field due to injury, with Will Good replacing him.

They then suffered another blow when the hosts, who had hardly managed to create an early chance, took the lead through Alan Akerman, but in the 36th minute they were awarded a penalty when Marcus Guest was brought down, enabling Josh Harris to equalise from the spot.

Wokingham missed a good chance to take the lead, but Port defended well and looked threatening on the break.

Both sides pressed for the winner and Ellis Day did manage to get the ball in the net for the Sumas, only to see his effort ruled out for offside.

Holyport were reduced to 10 men after 80 minutes when Jack Woodbridge was shown his second yellow card.

The Sumas remain fifth in the table with at least one game in hand on three of the sides above them.

This coming Saturday (2pm) they are home to Spartan South Midlands League club Buckingham Athletic in the quarter-finals of the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy.
