The Christmas Fun competitions got under way on Saturday when 15 teams of four contested the mixed Am-Am format competition with the added complication that all four players had to score on the par three holes.

The team of Robin and Kevin Knape, Andy Goodchild and Graham Miles took first place with an impressive 109 points.

Graham Bindly, Chris Moore, Carl McCartney and Nigel Huszarik were a single point behind in second place while Phil Clare, Simon Brown, Keith Hawton and Roger Hunt were a further point behind in third.

Other prizes went to Jane Brackenbury, nearest-the-pin in two on the third, Jason Kendal, nearest-the-pin on the seventh and Brian Reid, nearest-the-pin on the 17th.

A raffle on the day raised £165 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

On Sunday, the team comprising Phil Moss, Tim Howes, John Baron and Gary Robinson won the men’s ‘Joker’ Am-Am competition.

In a tight match with just one point separating the top four teams, their 107 points relegated the team of Mike Denny, Patrick Wilmore, Rob Graham and Martin Rolls to second place on countback. Keith Wilkins, Chris Moore, John Carroll and Pete Dye were just one further point behind beating Kendal, Steve Cox, Brackenbury and Kevin Wilkins on count-back to take third place.

DEANWOOD seniors got the festive season off to an early start with their annual Christmas Stableford.

The course played very well in wet conditions, but scoring was tough. In third place was Rob Sim with 39 points, second was Bob Giles with 40 and the winner with 42 points was Richard Tripp. The overall winner of all competitions across the year was Giles.

Competition winners in November saw Giles also do the double of medal and stableford for the seniors, Bob Hamnett took the Club Medal, while the ladies competitions were shared between Jane Gould (medal) and Jane Connor (nine-hole qualifier).
