SANDHURST Town have been flying high this week after defeating British Airways 4-0 in Division One.

It was an excellent team performance and they could easily have won by a wider margin.

Despite losing both Sam Green and Callum Samuel to injury in the first half, the Fizzers scored twice with Luke Burrows opening the scoring in the 26th minute and Bradley Brown adding the second on 33 minutes when he was put through by Jake Nicholls.

Jamie Mitchell, intercepting a poor pass from a BA defender, extended the lead after 62 minutes with Luke Cox scoring direct from a corner to complete the scoring five minutes from time. It was his first goal for the club in 18 months.

Nicholls and Brown shared the man-of-the-match award.

The win left Sandhurst eighth in the table going into their home game with Ash United last night (Tuesday).

This Saturday (3pm) they face FC Deportivo Galicia at Bedfont Sports Club and then on Wednesday next week they take on Westside at Chessington and Hook United (7.45pm).

Bottom-of-the-table Eversley & California's poor run of results continued with a 2-1 defeat at Ash United.

Trailing from the 36th minute, it looked as if they had earned a point when substitute Kai Francis headed home an 82nd-minute equaliser from Enow Ojong's cross, but six minutes later Ash grabbed the winner.

This coming Saturday, the Boars are away to Westside.

Ascot United were left without a Premier Division game last Saturday due to Sutton Common Rovers being involved in an FA Vase replay with Lancing. The fixture has been re-arranged for February 3.

The Yellamen have also lost top spot in the table to Ashford-based Spelthorne Sports, the side they visit next Tuesday (7.45pm), but they are just a point behind with a game in hand.

This coming Saturday, United host mid-table Knaphill at the Racecourse Ground.
