GOALKEEPER Chris Grace is back with Binfield after turning down the opportunity of returning to Bracknell Town, writes Dave Wright.

After recently leaving Hendon due to the amount of travelling involved, he spoke to both clubs before deciding on the Moles, having made 26 appearances for them last season.

Teenager Joe Williams has performed remarkably well for Binfield, but the need of an experienced stopper will become important as their quest for league and cup honours hots up.

Roger Herridge's men, who were without a Hellenic League fixture last weekend, will be looking to reach the last 32 of the FA Vase when they take on AFC Uckfield at Hill Farm Lane this Saturday (3pm).

The Sussex side play in the Southern Combination Premier Division, currently occupying a mid-table spot with 12 of their 21 points coming from away games.

Providing a replay is not required, Binfield will face National League side Maidenhead United at York Road in the first round of the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Also in Vase action this Saturday are Ascot United. They travel to Hartley in Kent to face Corinthian, who are currently third in the Southern Counties East League standings with 31 points from 17 games.

Yellamen's manager Jamie Tompkins commented: "I firmly believe we can go and win; we will absolutely go for it. We have been producing good performances and playing away is no problem.

"We have had them watched, so we will be as well prepared as ever."

The winning third-round clubs will pick up £1,125 from the Vase prize fund with the losers collecting £375.
