WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook have soared up to fifth place in Division One East of the Hellenic League and believe they can establish themselves in the top four.

Sumas' sizzling form saw them register two 6-1 away wins last week, against Langley on Tuesday followed by Woodley United last Saturday.

"We're now 11 games unbeaten, so we are on a good run," said joint-manager Dan Bateman.

"We are scoring a lot of goals and not letting many in. We have games in hand over three of the four sides currently above us, so we have a good chance of moving higher up the table especially if we continue to play like we have been in recent weeks.

"We are certainly looking to get into the top four and staying there.

"But as far as I am concerned, I am not looking beyond our next game.

"Ultimately, we know where we want to be, and if we keep playing as we have been in recent games, then we can get there, but at the moment I am not looking any further than our next game."

He continued: "Like other teams, we have a lot of games still to play and there are some very good teams in our league. There are probably six or seven of us fighting for a top-four place."

Commenting on the Woodley game at Rivermoor Stadium, Bateman told the News: "It was a professional performance from us.

"I feel it is always important to try and set the tempo, and we did just that as we were 3-0 up after half-an-hour. We were very clinical when it came to finishing.

"Defensively, we did well although we're disappointed we didn't keep a clean sheet, but it was a great strike from their lad.

"It was a difficult surface on which to play, but we did the right things.

"We must just keep on playing like we are and the squad we have is capable of doing just that."
