PREMIER Division pacemakers Ascot United were surprisingly beaten 4-2 by lowly Sheerwater at Woking on Saturday.

Although losing 3-2 to Beaconsfield in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup the previous Tuesday, the Yellamen had been in good form in the league and were facing a side who had lost their previous six games in all competitions.

They found themselves trailing from the seventh minute to Tom Davis' dipping volley and Sheerwater went on to dominate the half.

Ascot made three substitutions in an attempt to get back into the game, but those hopes ended when Shane Rideout curled home a free-kick after 51 minutes and Danny Taylor soon made it 3-0.

Elliott Carey pulled one goal back before Chris Mackay added Sheerwater's fourth with Harry Laflin getting a second for the visitors from the penalty spot in stoppage-time.

Ascot bowed out of the cup last Tuesday, losing by the odd goal in five to Southern League South Division tailenders Beaconsfield.

After falling behind to Brendan Matthews' 27th-minute goal, they levelled through Ian Davies after 70 minutes and seven minutes later Fabien Etienne fired them ahead.

But Ascot were unable to hang on to lead, with Matthews equalising two minutes from time and Charlie Losasso hitting the winner in time added on.

The Yellamen are away to Kent-based Corinthian in the third round of the FA Vase this Saturday.

Sandhurst's Division One match at Westside was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

They were scheduled to host Bedfont & Feltham this Saturday.

Last Tuesday, the Fizzers defeated Cookham Dean 3-0 to reach the last eight of the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy thanks to Luke Cox's deflected effort, Callum Samuel and Joe Barley.

A waterlogged pitch also meant a postponement to Eversley & California's home fixture with Chessington & Hook United.

Last Tuesday, the basement side had drawn 2-2 with Godalming, both goals coming from Kalum Patrick. Their side included Jemel Johnson and Phil Veal, both signed on a dual registration with Binfield.

The Boars have home fixtures with Fleet Spurs this Saturday and Farnham Town next Tuesday.
