JO Ellis and Emma Thomas both scored twice as Reading crushed Cambridge City 5-0 at Sonning Lane on Saturday, writes Dave Wright.

Thomas, having returned from working in Australia, took just a minute to open the scoring.

Player-coach Ellis doubled her side's lead in the 12th minute as the Blues took control in this Investec League Division One South fixture.

Thomas made it 3-0 from a penalty corner in the 39th minute with Ellis completing her double three minutes later.

Fran Clements crowned another fine team performance by netting their fifth goal from a penalty corner on 57 minutes.

Reading will be looking to make it three victories on the bounce when they travel to winless St Albans on Saturday (1pm).

Reading 3rds are also without a victory so far, having lost 4-0 at home to Harrow last weekend in Division 3a. Reading Men lost 3-2 at home to Holcombe despite being ahead with a little more than 10 minutes remaining.

Terry Kynaston put them ahead in the 29th minute, only for Robert Field to equalise a minute later.

But three minutes later the Blues were back in front thanks to a goal from Jatinder Bachu.

They maintained their slender advantage until Jeremy Edwards restored parity in the 59th minute at a time when Reading's Adam Miller was spending five minutes in the sin-bin following a yellow card.

The hosts had no time to recover from those two blows before Harry Trussler bagged Holcombe's winner on 60 minutes.
