WINDSOR registered their first Hellenic League win of the season when defeating Holmer Green 5-1 at Stag Meadow on Tuesday.

In front of a crowd of 106, they fell behind to a 21st-minute goal, but responded well with Jay O'Connell equalising after 28 minutes later and then putting them ahead four minutes later.

Andy Ingram increased their advantage in the 63rd minute and a strong finish from the hosts saw substitutes Ben Smyth and Andy Forder add one goal apiece late in the game.

Windsor are also through to the third round of the Bluefin Sports (UHL) Cup after defeating Division One East side Woodley United last Saturday.

The tie in Reading ended 2-2, with Windsor going on to triumph 7-6 on penalties.

Jake Sobalak put them ahead in the 16th minute, only to concede two goals to Ed Thomas on 30 minutes and just after the hour mark.

There were just three minutes of normal time remaining when Adam Kirby restored parity for the visitors.

Keeper Sonny Wheeler became Windsor's hero by saving from Freddie Barron in the penalty shoot-out.

Windsor, who have received several good applicants for their vacant manager's role, will be looking to maintain their improved form when they host Virginia Water tomorrow (Saturday).
