WINDSOR hosted its first ever double-header as a part of its pre-season preparations with both the men and women playing friendly matches against Newbury Blues at on Saturday.

Windsor Dames

suffered a 29-10 defeat in what was a competitive pre-season game at Home Park. It was an enjoyable and useful exercise for both sides. The Dames were pleased to see two players graduate from the girls' section to the ladies set-up.

The men's first team the played Newbury in front of a good crowd. It was an opportunity for head coach Jack Pattinson and the new coaching team to watch both new and current players as well as try out different combinations.

The match was broken down into three period so that both sides had time to make changes and coach the players.

Newbury were winning 12-0 after

Windsor

had conceded two tries in the first period but, at the end of the game, the hosts had won 27-12.

Pattinson and the coaching team were pleased with the performance with many positives to be taken from the match.

The game also highlighted areas of development that can be worked on for the next pre-season match against London Cornish at Home Park this Saturday (3pm).

Windsor train on a Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm and welcome players of any ability.

The Dames next pre-season game will take place at Streatham & Croydon on September 1st. The Dames train on a Wednesday at 6.30pm and would welcome any new players for the coming season.

The players welcomed in the new season with a BBQ after the matches.
