ASCOT United conceded a late equaliser as they let slip a 2-0 lead to new Combined Counties League rivals Badshot Lea in the FA Cup extra preliminary round on Saturday.

In a tie switched to Lea's new Wrecclesham ground the Yellamen took a 24th-minute lead through Usman Lalustani’s deft flick from James Richardson’s cross, but it required two brilliant saves from keeper Sam Gray to keep them ahead in the first half.

Ascot doubled their advantage with a gift goal in the 54th minute. Badshot keeper Kallum Lunn's attempted throw out was seized upon by Lalustani, who had no trouble in slotting the ball into an empty net.

Ascot’s Harry Laflin twice tried his luck from long range before they conceded a goal in the 69th minute to Meshach Williams.

They still looked capable of holding on to their slender advantage as the tie went into stoppage time, but they then gave away a free-kick which led to Liam Flanagan heading home the equaliser.

The replay was scheduled for last night (Tuesday) at the same venue, with the winners away to Christchurch in the preliminary round.

This coming Saturday, United visit Redhill, who have lost both of their opening league games.
