JOHN Brennan is confident that he has every base covered ahead of his challenge to Sean Robinson for the Southern Area Super Welterweight title at York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday 29th June.

Brennan

, 33, has been pushing for a shot at the title having won his last four fights, including a total knockout victory against Andrej Moravek in February this year.

It will be his second challenge for the crown after a defeat to Asinia Byfield back in February 2017, but the Slough-based star believes he is a more knowledgeable fighter this time around.

Brennan told the Observer: “I’m more glass half-full than empty so took a few positives from the Byfield fight.

“I would be a fool not to draw from experiences and not take things from that, so there are a few things I want to try and not do such much in this one.

“I gave a good account of myself then and showed that I should be at title level. I showed that I could be one of the best in the country if given the chance.

“Maybe the stoppage was a little bit premature but I’m not going to go into this fight thinking about that. I’m more of a knowledgeable fighter now.

“Gary Dawson (coach) and I have got together to work for longer periods, tune up my assets and sharpen my tools, so I’m definitely more of a fighter than I was.”

He added: “I will not take anything away from Sean, he has done very well, but I will do my best and not worry too much about my opponent.

“Sean is actually from my old amateur club, Dale Youth. He’s an Ealing lad and I know a few people that know him as well.

“I’ve not got anything to say in a bad way about him. He has done whatever he has needed to do to get into the position he’s in.

“I will say that I would probably be his toughest test. I’ve answered a few more questions that he has, so I’m going to ask a few of him on the night and see how he responds.”

“I’ve got a little bit of a gameplan that Gary and I have been working on, plus Andrew Joicey (conditioning coach) has helped me out a lot as well.

“If it pans out like we think it will then we’ve got every base covered. I’ve got plans A, B and C, so it’s not like we’re going in a one-trick pony.

“I know how certain people like to think how I light to fight but I’ve got a few more strings in my bow.

Brenan continued: “It would mean everything to win. This is massive to me. It’s a national title, the one I’ve been searching for and want to win.

“This is a fight that I’ve been pushing for and looking forward to for a few months, and off the back of a couple of good wins.

“I’ve won my last four now with a couple of stoppages, so I’m on a nice run.

“It’s a culmination of all the hard work that has been going on behind the scenes.

“We’re replicating what we want to do and implementing a few new things.

“I’ve had a little bit more work with Joyce this time. He has been helping me with my circuit training to get me in tip-top shape as well as working on a few new things.

“I’ve also done some good gym work with Chris Davies, an unbeaten pro, over at Moor Lane, and travelled to Bicester for some sparring with Scott James."

The title challenge has also thanked the role that Luke Trotter and his

Maidenhead-based Body Fit Gym

has played in his fight preparation.

Brennan said: "Luke has been a massive help to me, not just for this fight but the last four or five. I go to Luke and having the Body Fit facility there can push me on, so it's massive and really big for me.

"I would say the brand is more than up-and-coming. It has been going for more than a couple of years and established for the guys he churns out."

"It's the leading gym in the area apart from Slough Amateur Boxing Club, which has got a fantastic reputation."
