Reading starlet Danny Loader started for England U20’s as they ended their involvement in this year’s Toulon Tournament with a 4-0 win over Guatemala.

The result means that Paul Simpson’s side finish in ninth position; ending their three-year spell as champions.
Goals from Eddie Nketiah, Dwight McNeil, and a double from George Hirst secured the first victory of their campaign.

Loader played 75 minutes, gaining his first start of the competition, and will hope to pick up more minutes as he prepares for a big season with Reading.

The 18-year-old scored one goal from 21 appearances last season but ended the term strongly under Jose Gomes.

Meanwhile Michael Olise will hope to play a part in today’s fifth place play-off between France and Portugal.

Olise started two of the three group stage matches for Les Bleus.

Midfielder Josh Barrett is hoping to reach the final of the competition with Republic of Ireland, as they face Brazil in a semi-final today.

Barrett played a large role in his side reaching this stage and will want to play a part in hopefully going further.

Fellow Reading local Jayden Bogle, fullback at Derby County, also started.

Fifty appearances in all competitions, in his debut year as a professional, has attracted interest from many top-flight teams as he made the right back position his own under Frank Lampard.

He has been subject of strong transfer speculation from Premier League sides Brighton and Hove Albion, and Burnley.
