THE 21st annual Windsor Youth Football Tournament saw 206 compete from all over the South East including Portsmouth, Sussex, Kent, Oxfordshire and London in 602 matches last weekend.

Windsor

welcomed old and few faces to Hanover Way for over 90 hours of football, and the standard keeps on getting better with each year.

The Under-7 (U7) and U8 section competed in the Tony Oorloff friendly matches, while the other age groups contested for a Cup, Plate or Shield trophy.

As well as a medal and a trophy, this year all the winners were given a PES video game kindly donated by sponsors, Konami.

Events like this cannot take place without the hard work and support of the parent volunteers. From the coaches who set up and take down the tournament to the parents who run the car park, BBQ and refreshments tent, plus help make visitors feel most welcome.

Windsor would also like to thank its club officers who ensure that the weekend ran smoothly and on time.

The main reason clubs put on tournaments is to raise funds. Grassroots football in this country is not financially supported as it is in some other nations, so 100 per-cent of what is raised will go back into ensuring Windsor can continue to facilitate affordable youth football to the community.
