WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH) Athletics Club hosted the initial Alder Valley Girls League match of the summer season at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre in Eton.

WSEH finished as runners-up of the nine competing teams with a total of 696 points and behind winners Reading (794), with Bracknell (522) rounding off the podium.

The match commenced with a winning double in the opening Under-17 (U17) 300m hurdles for Jamie Leigh-White in 48.3 seconds (secs) and Mei Ya Lambert in 49.5secs.

The sprints saw Abby Masquelier take third position in the 100m in 13.8secs with Maya Kara similarly placed in the 200m in 27.6secs. Leigh-White produced a second victory in the 300m in 45.2secs.

More good points accrued in the 800m with second places from Freya Daines in two minutes and 37.2 seconds (2:37.2) and Jodie Bongartz (2:43.8).

Points were harder to come by in the field events but Lambert won the triple jump on 9.36m. Taliah Headley-Jones was third in the high jump with her 1.45m clearance.

The javelin was the best of the throws for the club with Jardae Hodge-Spencer third in the A string with 28.76m and Calia Logan-Griffin winning the B string with her effort of 28.67m.

The opening field event, the hammer, provided second-place finishes for Liliana Burn on 37.36m and Jessica Woodford with 23.02m.

WSEH athletes figured heavily in the U15 sprints. Katy Beadle had a winning double in the 100m (12.6secs) and the 200m (26.8secs). Lianna Williams repeated the feat in the B string races with her 13.1secs and 27.5secs.

The best of the middle distance races proved to be the 800m where Natalie Camp was second in the A string on 2:23.7, with Jessica Hatch winning the B division on 2:24.2.

The 75m hurdles provided more good points from Isla Brown, runner-up in the A race in 12.6secs, with Chanel Lovelock winning the B string in 12.8secs.

Beadle crowned a highly successful day with another victory in the long jump on 4.95m.

The best of the throws came from Lovelock with her third place in the shot on 9.32m.

There was a good level of consistency from WSEH athletes in the U13 age group.

Jazzy Summer was third in the 75m A race in 10.8secs and 21.7secs in the 150m. Debbie Coker provided good support in the B races, third in the 75m on 11.2secs and improving into second place in the 150m on 21.9secs.

Summer Chapman headed the filed with her win in the 600m on 1:44.6. The 1,200m races featured third-place finishes for Annabel Bailey (4:09.4) and Heidi Thomson (4:31.7).

Hannah Kolowale had a successful day in the throws, winning the discus on 17.74m and placing second in the shot with 6.14m. Katrina O’Brien also claimed second place in the B string discus with her throw of 14.70m.

The final races of the day, the 4x100m relays, produced third place for the U13 team of Demara Gumbs, Summer, Coker and Molly Staunton in 58.3secs.

The U15 team of Beadle, Lovelock, Anna Babis and Williams going one better for second place in 52.6secs.
