MO Barrow insists Reading FC cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal as they prepare to face title-chasing Leeds United at Madejski Stadium tonight (8pm ko).

Barrow’s stunning equaliser against Wigan Athletic on Saturday paved the way for a nailbiting 3-2 victory as Royals made it consecutive league wins for the first time in 15 months.

The result lifted Jose Gomes men up to 19th in the table – their highest position since October – and three points above the relegation zone.

But Barrow knows that with 10 games to go the battle is far from over, with Royals nursing a number of injuries and Leeds gunning for the win that would send them back to the top.

“It’s not over yet, we still need to keep our head down and keep fighting,” said the 26-year-old winger. “We’re not safe so we can’t relax. We must keep working towards our goals and try to improve for the future and next season.

“You have to fight for every point. We have a good squad but it’s not enough just to say that, you also have to fight and that is what we are doing, we’re moving in the right direction.

“We have a lot of important games to go. We’re not happy where we are and we want to keep climbing up the table and improving. Hopefully we can win a couple more games soon.

“Football is about believing in yourself, keep training well and working hard. I know I have to play hard for the team right to the end.”

Jose Gomes celebrates Yakou Meite's stoppage-time winner against Wigan.

Barrow has been pivotal to Reading’s mini-revival under Gomes in the past 10 days.

The Gambia international netted a last-minute winner at bottom club Ipswich Town as Royals clinched their first away win since September.

He then scored the 89th minute equaliser against Wigan on Saturday before Yakou Meite completed an incredible comeback deep into stoppage time.

“It was a mad game,” recalled Barrow. “Everything happened so quickly. The boys showed the same character and fighting spirit as the previous game at Ipswich. When we got the second goal we believed we could win the game.

“It wasn’t the best game, but the most important thing was the three points. It can be tough when you are where we are in the table, but sometimes you don’t need a pretty game but to fight.

“Like last week when Ipswich scored, we knew we had the quality in the team to win the game in the end. I believed we could do that against Wigan so that’s why I ran back to get started again, I believed we could win.

“I felt confident it was a good moment to shoot, I was facing goal with a lot of time. I thought we could get a rebound out of it or something. The manager also tells us to shoot so I did.”

He added: “It was a good feeling at the end. The fans have been incredible for us. Their support means a lot to us. They pushed us right to the end. They had a good feeling like us, they knew we could win the game. We are so happy for the fans and hopefully they will keep cheering us like this until the end of the season.”

Injuries update:

Captain Liam Moore is a major doubt after dislocation his shoulder against Wigan Athletic on Saturday. The centre-back played through the pain barrier and finished the game, but may not be risked tonight.

Reading Chronicle:

Liam Moore dislocated his shoulder against Wigan Athletic.

If Moore misses out it could mean a first appearance since August for Paul McShane who has been battling a persistent knee problem for most of the season.

On-loan Liverpoool midfielder Ovie Ejarie could also be ruled out with a groin strain that forced him off in the first half against Wigan.

Royals are looking light up front with Nelson Oliveira out for several weeks with a hamstring problem and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Sam Baldock also sidelined.

That is likely to mean another start for Yakou Meite up front, with teenager Danny Loader on the bench.

Andy Rinomhota, Saeid Ezatolahi, Anssi Jaakkola and Jordan Obita are all unavailable.

Marcelo Bielsa looks set to name an unchanged Leeds side for a fifth game in a row.

Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips have recovered from slight knocks they picked up in Saturday's win at Bristol City.
