READING FC and Nottingham Forest have been fined by the Football Association following last weekend’s ill-tempered clash at Madejski Stadium.

A late tackle by Forest’s Daryl Murphy on John Swift led to a melee on the pitch in the 62nd minute.

Murphy and team-mate Jack Robinson were booked by referee Oliver Langford who also sent off Danny Fox for a second yellow.

Royals skipper Liam Moore and right-back Andy Yiadom were also booked for their part in the incident.

In all, Forest picked up five yellow cards and finished with nine men as Tendayi Darikwa received a straight red for a studs-up challenge on teenage substitute Danny Loader in the 83rd minute.

Royals had three booked in total including Omar Richards for a tackle on Joe Lolley in the first half.

The Football Association charged both clubs on Wednesday as they ‘failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion’.

Both clubs admitted the charges resulting in a £5,000 fine for Reading and a £10,000 fine for Nottingham Forest.

The Reds, who appointed Martin O’Neill as their new manager this week, were hit with a bigger fine as it was not their first offence this season.
