Island Sailing Club in Reading once again held their annual prizegiving in their Club House, at Englefield Lake, Pingewood.

It was a year of two halves as far as trophies went.

Starting with the Brass Monkey race, held on the first day of the year, the Frostbite Series, the Spring Bank Holiday Series, and the Spring Series were all won by James Scott.

However, after the weather changed, the honours for the early Summer Series, the Summer Series and the Autumn Series, all went to Ian Wickens.

Sheri Drake intervened with the May Bank Holiday trophy and with sailing partner, Peter Crawthaw, she also made it first past the finishing line on the Longest Day race, the club’s only relay event.

Two other awards were made on the evening of song and celebration.

The young sailor of the year award went to Ben Audsley who has trained at the club, which is an RYA training establishment, reaching Level Three during the year.

Dave Buddery won the most improved helmsman of the year, much to his surprise.

Sailing training courses are held throughout the year at the club as well a full racing programme.
