ASCOT United were beaten 2-1 at Wantage on Saturday in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

The Yellamen took a 16th-minute lead from an excellent move finished by Nathan Minhas, but Wantage levelled when Chris Jackson headed home Harvey Scholes’ corner.

The home side’s winner came in the 83rd minute from Steve Robertson, but Ascot could have snatched a deserved late equaliser, with Minhas having his effort blocked by keeper Curtis Meare and Jean-Claude Etienne scooping the loose ball wide of an open goal.

Ascot host Reading City next Tuesday (7.45pm).

WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook’s five-match unbeaten run came to an end with a 4-2 defeat by Wallingford Town at Larges Lane in Division One East.

They were on the receiving end of a four-goal blitz in the first half with Lawrence Aitchison, Ashley Searle, Charlie Silkstone and Luke Williams all on target.

Sumas had a much better second half and scored through Joe Cummuskey and Jake White.

Youngster Connor Holland has been selected to represent South West of England at Under 18 level, giving him an opportunity to play for England Schools.

Wokingham visit Woodley United at Rivermoor Stadium this Saturday and next Tuesday they face AFC Aldermaston at Larges Lane in a group game in the Division One Subsidiary Cup.

SANDHURST Town continued their good run of results in Division One of the Combined Counties League by defeating last week’s table-toppers Sheerwater 2-0 at Bottom Meadow.

Mitchell Cooper opened the scoring after 22 minutes and the Fizzers doubled their lead when Charlie Oakley’s through ball was lifted over the keeper by man-of-the-match Haydon Richardson.

Last Tuesday, they had lost 1-0 in extra time at Epsom & Ewell in the Division One Cup.

Fizzers, who were due to play at Hanworth Villa in the Cherry Red Records Cup last night (Tuesday), are away to Tooting Bec on Saturday (3pm) and next Tuesday (7.45pm) host Chalvey Sports in the third round of the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy.

EVERSLEY & California’s home match with Chessington & Hook was abandoned after 55 minutes due to pitch conditions following the torrential rain. They were leading 2-0 at the time with Brad Brown getting both goals.

Last night (Tuesday) the Boars were due to host Horley Town in the Southern Combination Cup and this Saturday they travel to FC Deportivo Galicia (3pm).
