MANAGER Paul Clement brushed aside rumours linking Francesco Guidolin with his job at Reading FC, insisting ‘what will be, will be.’

Italian media this week reported Royals sporting director Gianluca Nani has made contact with Guidolin over his availability.

Clement eased the pressure on him with a 3-2 win against Bristol City last weekend, though sources suggest his position is far from secure.

It has even been said the club could make a change should Reading lose to Ipswich Town in a #relegation six-pointer’ this Saturday.

However, Clement, 46, refuses to pay attention to the speculation and insists it is business as usual for him and his coaching staff.

“It (the rumour) doesn’t make me uncomfortable,” he declared. “I’m in a privileged position, I’m the manager and I’m very grateful, I will keep working hard and that’s it.

“When results don’t go well there is always speculation about your job and who will be the potential option, it’s normal.

“I don’t worry about it to be honest. All my efforts go into working with the players to get results. As far as I’m concerned, what will be will be.”

Clement also addressed a range of topics in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Championship basement boys Ipswich Town.

Injuries were at the forefront after Jon Dadi Bodvarsson was ruled out for six weeks, with fellow striker Yakou Meite facing a late fitness test after rolling his ankle against Bristol City.

As a result, teenage hot-shot Danny Loader trained with the first team this week and could be included in Saturday’s squad.

Clement on Meite:

“Yakou hasn’t trained yet this week, but we’re very hopeful he can do something efore we assess how fit he is then make the decision.

“It’s an ankle injury he rolled it in that first heavy challenge on the Bristol City centre-back. He went in very committed but landed awkwardly and rolled it slightly so he couldn’t continue.”

He added: “It disappointing news about Jon Dadi. He’s had a good start to the season and was scoring goals and working hard for the team.

“Yakou is doing the same, though I’m, more hopeful he’s going to be okay for the weekend.

“If not, I’ll have to come up with another plan.”

Late fitness test for goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola:

“He was back on the grass yesterday. If he responds well he’ll be with the team.”

Clement on sending out a settled team:

“It wold be nice to play the same team, for that team to win and you keep rolling it out.

“But it’s more difficult than that for injury and tactical reasons.

“We’ll see how Yakou and Anssi are and there are other players pushing.

“When everyone is fit this is going to get interesting, there’s a good competition.”
