TILEHURST Albion continued their perfect start to the season so far with a hard-fought 2-0 win over current title holders Barkham Athletic.

Goals from George Gavin and Harvey Owen took the home side six points clear at the top of the table, with Owen’s goal his sixth of the season.

Brookside St Laurence got an all-important win under their belts with a thrilling 5-4 win over West Reading.

Despite a hat-trick from Jordan Onraet-Wells and a goal from James Gayle, West Reading were defeated by goals from Jonny Hare, Brent Guiblin, Courtney Isaacs and a brace from Jack Perrett.

Reading Saints also got off the mark for the season with a 4-2 win over YMCA United. The home side raced into a 4-0 lead at half time, courtesy of goals from Lee Scicluna, Sam Braham, Ben Cousins and Charlie Palmer.

Liam Harris and Mark Lus both responded for United, but Saints went home with the points.

Beacon Church responded from their shock defeat last week to overcome Wycliffe Wanderers 5-3. It was all square at half time with the scores locked at 3-3, but Beacon responded to edge closer to the top three.

An Andrew Stroud hat-trick, Dave Morgan and Ollie Chapman goals proved enough for Beacon, while Neal Healy, Michael Roberts and Marc Overson were on target for basement boys Wycliffe.

Danny Lynch was on fire for Bethel United as they comfortably beat Wycliffe United 4-1.

Lynch netted a hat-trick, while an Akeem Roach goal saw Bethel earn a deserved three points.

Elsewhere, YMCA Newbury made it two wins from three games with a 9-1 thrashing of Norreys who played almost 40 minutes with just eight men.

Even with 10 men for the rest of the game, there was no stopping clinical Newbury.
