DAVID Lee led home an incredible Datchet Dashers one-two-three when winning the Cliveden Cross Country on Sunday.

Over 600 runners took part in the iconic event but members of the Dashers dominated the race with Lee winning in a time of 37 minutes and one second (37.01).

James Samson was just nine seconds behind in second place (37.10) with Robert Baylis completing the podium positions in third with 37.29.

The Dashers continued to be amongst the first home when Chris Bradfield (38.50) crossed the line in sixth position, while Chris Hunt clocked 39.15 for eighth place. Other front-running Dashers include Sebastian Burley (39.50) and Rob Foster (39.52).

Cookham Running Club were represented by Jason Leaf who stopped the clock at 40.18 (16th) whilst Adam Stage ran 40.33 for Maidenhead Athletics Club.

Jill Collett won the female race in a time of 41.37, over two minutes ahead of runner-up Nicki Johnson (43.56) and Laura Street (44.31) in third position.

Burnham Joggers organised the cross country and member Claire Pusey ran 45.23 to be the fourth female across the finish line. The Joggers were also represented by Mark Moore (45.27).

Marc Bennett will take over as race director from Nick Cole in 2019 and told the Observer: “Burnham Joggers would like to thank all the runners who entered, and Mark Bradshaw and his team at the National Trust for making this iconic event possible. It was a great way to start the year.

“We’re now looking forward to hosting our beginners course in the Spring, the much-loved Beaconsfield five-mile trail run on Easter Monday plus the Half Marathon and 10k on August 12.

“If you’re feeling inspired come down to the club which is based at Huntswood Golf Club. We run on a Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm. We’re a friendly bunch and membership is only £20 for a year.”
