A chunk of scaffolding brought chaos to Slough High Street on Tuesday night when it came loose from outside the the Peri-Peri Original fast food restaurant at about 10pm.
An area of the High Street between The Grove and Wexham Road had to be closed off after police and firefighters went to the scene following reports that the scaffolding had come away from the wall and was banging against a lamp-post. Slough Council's highways department was immediately contacted.
A spokesman for Slough Borough Council said: “A highways inspector was called to 290 High Street at 11pm on Tuesday after we received a call from Thames Valley Police that scaffolding that had come away from the wall due to the weather conditions.
“The High Street was closed between The Grove and Wexham Road for safety reasons.
“The scaffolding company was called and attended to secure the scaffolding.
“The emergency services left the scene and the road closure was lifted at 3am.”
