A fire has destroyed a house in Parlaunt Road, Langley.

Firefighters from Slough, Langley and Maidenhead spent more than six hours on site after being called shortly before 4pm on Saturday, supported by crews from London Fire Brigade and Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Six firefighters in breathing apparatus used three hose reels and a jet to extinguish the fire after finding on arrival that it had already spread to the kitchen and roof.

Initial fears that someone might be in the rented house proved unfounded and an emergency Red Cross team is understood to have helped the family find alternative accommodation.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
