The Morris Dancers were out and about again in Windsor on Saturday - proving that this particular tradition had long since ceased to be a solely male activity.

Windsor Morris is a Windsor based women's team. But the men got a look in as well, thanks to two guest visiting dance groups.

The Tower Ravens Rapper sword dancers were a mixed group - as the women danced and the men provided the music.

While the Cotswold Morris Dance Team from Wokingham known as the Berkshire Bedlam Morris completed the line up.

The dancers entertained outside the Guildhall and the Two Brewers in Park Street, as well as visiting the Swan Lifeline charity's open day at Cuckoo Weir Island, Eton.

Windsor Morris member Beth Neill said: "It was a really good day. The weather staged good and there was a nice, relaxed atmosphere.

"There was a good blend of different dances."

Windsor Morris ladies will be back in the town on September 14.

Meanwhile free taster sessions for anyone who would like to give morris dancing a try are being held on Wednesday, September 18 and 25 and October 2 and 9 from 8pm to 10pm at Gardener's Hall, St Leonard's Road.
