Slough mayor Paul Singh Sohal launched this year’s Slough in Bloom competition at Salt Hill Park this week.

This year marks the 26th anniversary of the competition, which was started by representatives of Slough’s business community in 1994, and expanded to include residential properties and community groups the following year.

The competition is now run by a small committee of horticulturalists and enthusiastic amateurs and aims to make the town a more pleasant place to live, work in and visit by encouraging displays of flowers.

Entry is free and forms are available from council offices and libraries, by emailing Sloughinbloom@gmail.com or calling 01753 595838. Enter before June 15.

The awards ceremony will be held on August 17 in Lascelles Park at the Slough Horticultural Show.
